I am a Chinese American journalist.
I am the director/producer of “New York Jianghu,” a feature documentary about the legacy of kung fu in New York City, from Hollywood to anti-Asian hate.
I am the creator of “The New Flushing Project,” a hyperlocal news podcast about New York City’s most dynamic Asian American neighborhood.
My writing has appeared in Goldthread (South China Morning Post), National Geographic, Polygon, The Wall Street Journal, WSHU Public Radio. I have produced video for Business Insider, CoinDesk, Diverse Streets Initiative, and Think!Chinatown. I have edited for CineVue, the culture vertical of the Asian American International Film Festival and Peach Blossom House, the Chinese-to-English publishing house.
In 2018-2019, I provided research for “Who Killed Malcolm X?” the investigative Netflix documentary. The Manhattan DA examined evidence provided in the documentary and ultimately exonerated the alleged killers of the civil rights leader. In 2021, I spearheaded research on Asian American Pacific Islanders’ media consumption, which led to the creation of the digital platform, Netflix Golden.
I am currently based in New York City, where I am Managing Editor of CineVue.
I was born and raised in Flushing, New York.
